# Introduction

At Skyscanner we build world-class apps to support our travellers, our partner companies, and each other.

By establishing a unified approach to building those apps, we can ensure that anyone can quickly understand how to use a new app thanks to coherent patterns and guidelines. This document will help you throughout the process of build your apps, regardless of what scale you're delivering them.

This is not a set of rules; this is a supportive, living document that will help you build on knowledge from our design and engineering communities.

This doesn't replace Backpack, our Design System, rather it provides you the instructions on how to adopt Backpack when you're building an internal tool.

Good design is the process of deciding how users will interact with your app and by following these guidelines you can deliver intuitive products quickly and easily.

Before you start make sure to read through the guidelines, and use our Visual Component libraries for Figma, Miro, or print.
